Workshop Session One
Valuing perspectives
Think about a time when you had an idea to share, or had a burning question, or were seeking clarity. Were you heard? Was your perspective taken into account? Was your question answered? Or were you silenced, overlooked or not acknowledged?
In this workshop we will explore the value of multiple voices to gain a deeper perspective, and how this influences the way we work alongside our ākonga. We will celebrate our own uniqueness, diversity and life experiences.
As an educator, visiting teacher or manager, you will have the opportunity to develop tools that support you in seeking multiple perspectives, and learn how to capture and translate these into your work with your ākonga every day.
Come prepared to laugh, share, and gain insights into the importance of opening your mind to others’ perspectives.
“A child’s voice however honest and true, is meaningless to those who have forgotten how to listen.” Albus Dumbledore
