I am an experienced Early Childhood Teacher who has worked in the field of ECE for 25 years. I have worked in Kindergarten, Education and Care Centres and in Homebased ECE. I hold a Diploma of Teaching ECE.
My passion for Homebased ECE began when working as an educator in Hamilton 20 years ago, when my eldest son was a baby. From there we moved to Christchurch to set up our own Homebased Childcare Service, Kiddz, in 2000. I currently work as Director and Visiting Teacher.
I believe children are born into family and in Homebased childcare, they can continue to learn and grow in family. I am committed and passionate about providing a high quality childcare service for children, their families and our educators, that focuses on keeping up to date with current practices and theories and am continually striving towards excellence through best practice and innovation.
I was on the Executive Committee of the NZ Homebased ECE Association from 2001 until 2007 and after a break of 5 years am excited to join the Board again, in a time when we are making huge progress in so many areas. My passion lies in teaching and learning and in my past role on the National Executive I was involved in the consultation and development of the Open Polytechnic of New Zealand, Level 5 Certificate. I have also been on the conference committee since 2001, working as part of the team organising the conferences over the years.
I strongly believe that high quality homebased childcare is the very best early childhood education option for babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers and am committed to working at a government level to promote and advocate for our sector.
