NZHBECEA response to announcement re review 20 Feb 2019

The New Zealand Home Based ECE Association welcomed the announcement from Minister of Education, Hon. Chris Hipkins yesterday and believes he is moving in the right direction to raise quality and professionalism in the Home-Based Early Learning sector.

The move to introduce a Level 4 Early Childhood Education Certificate benchmark qualification provides the opportunity for educators to gain a qualification while working. The Ministry of Education has indicated there will be lead-in time of 3 to 4 years for educators to become qualified.

The New Zealand Home Based ECE Association held their 31st Annual Conference in Auckland at the Grand Millennium Hotel this past weekend.

Attendees included members made up of Homebased ECE service providers, visiting teachers and Homebased ECE educators from throughout New Zealand. The theme of the conference was ‘Getting to the Heart of it’.

Monika Gamble from Wild Things Ltd. Homebased ECE Service Dunedin, is delighted to be named the NZ Homebased ECE Association Educator of the Year 2017 at the New Zealand Homebased Association Conference Award Ceremony on Saturday 23rd September 2017.  Ariana Moss from Barnardos KidsStart Homebased ECE Service Invercargill was named as runner up.
